Small Left
Who has left their small children to go on vacation and how did it turn out?

I am a SAHM to my 3.5 and almost 2 year old girls. My husband and I are planning on going to Las Vegas for our 10 year anniversary. We will be leaving in the evening, so it will be for 4 nights and we will be home on the fourth day.

My mother is coming to my house to stay with the girls. They love her and are very comfortable with her. But they have not been left overnight, and generally are not left with anyone. My mother in law will watch them less than once a month for us to do dinner and a movie.

My 3 year old goes to preschool 2 days a week and is absolutely fine with it. Of course that is not 4 days and nights. My 2 year old, is fine when she stays with MIL.

I am starting to feel horrible for leaving them. Has anyone left their kids and had regrets after it was all said and done? Would you like to share you experiences?
Thanks

It is hard to leave them – you’ll be a wreck right up until the last minute. but I guarantee you, you’ll get on that plane and be like “ahhhhhh” and be fine!

I have left my three kids (now 6, 4 and 3) with my parents while my husband and I have taken short vacations (never more than 5 days) since they were babies. As long as your children are comfortable with who they are staying with, and you are comfortable with that person watching them, then you will have a great time and your kids will do absolutely fine.

Other than a couple of vacations a year (if that), my husband and I do not get out much so my kids are not left with people much. but they always enjoyed that time with their grandparents when they did, and I think its a great experience for all parties involved. I felt like a guilty wreck up until the second Ieft, a few times even cried as we pulled out of the driveway, but as soon as we were on our way and the kids out of sight, it was so relaxing and nice.

have a great time, try not to stress!!!
