Chinese Gua
what is the English name for the vegetable called “He Zhang Gua” in Chinese?

It looks like a closed palm
The first two characters literally means “closed palm” (i.e. as in hand). It looks green and like a hand with a closed palm.

Like a closed palm? You mean like a closed hand, or a fist?

The only “hand” shaped vegetable I know is “Fo shou” Buddha’s hand, which is actually a type of citron. But this is clearly not a melon a squash (which is what ‘Gua’ implies.).

Please explain the first two characters, and tell us a bit more about how it looks…color, shape, size, texture, taste, cooked how?
