Shin Calf
Anything to do for shin and calf pain?

I am trying to prepare for the physical test for the police department and have to do a mile and a half run in 16 minutes and 33 seconds. My problem is that every time I move at a pace above a jog, my calves and shins start to hurt. I am stretching before I start and I don’t know what else I can do. Is there something I can take to prevent the burning and tightness in my calves? I think I could deal with the shin pain if both sides of my legs weren’t hurting. Someone help!!

Make sure that your shoes have the correct form and padding for running. Try not to run on concrete, like sidewalks. Instead run on grass or a special padded track…if that’s not possible asphalt is better than concrete.

I also suggest that you stretch a little longer before and make sure to stretch afterward. Also after your run…massage the calf and shin up toward your heart to move the lactic acid and ice it for 15 minutes.

Hope this helps. 🙂
